Rural Dairy Livelihood Initiative
One cow. One family. One future. We transform vulnerable families in Narang Mandi, Punjab into productive dairy entrepreneurs — with a US$50,000 investment that creates a lifetime of change.
Skilled families, trapped by poverty
Poor rural families often cannot access bank loans or credit. Low literacy limits their participation in formal employment, and with income tied to daily wages, they remain vulnerable to drought, debt traps and displacement.
Our solution — a 4-step model · حل
The Rural Dairy Livelihood Initiative turns that cycle around with a simple, proven model:
1. Interest-free loan
Up to US$2,000 per family — no interest, no collateral.
2. Purchase dairy cow
A high-yield breed producing 15–20 litres of milk a day.
3. Milk processing unit
Converts milk into ghee, cheese, cream and yogurt.
4. Revolving fund
Repayments fund new families — a self-sustaining cycle.
From milk to market
Families don’t just sell raw milk — they sell value-added products that earn far more: desi ghee (premium, long shelf-life), cheese for local and restaurant markets, fresh cream for confectionery, and yogurt, a daily staple with rapid turnover. Products reach both local markets and online platforms.
Sustainable & replicable
Every loan repaid is re-lent to a new family, so the impact compounds. The model is designed to replicate across Pakistan — Phase 1 in Narang Mandi (Central Punjab), then Buner (KP), Bagh (AJK) and Sukkur (Sindh).
